Grade 7 and 8 Band uniform Information

Uniform Distribution Dates for Grade 7 and 8 Band Students

 

 

Uniforms will be distributed at Dr. Brass School on:

            Monday, November 19 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.

            Tuesday, November 20 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.

            Wednesday, November 21 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.

 

 

There is a one time $11.00 rental fee for all grade 7 students and any new grade 8 students. Students will pay this fee when they pick up their uniform. Cheques may be made payable to “Yorkton and District Band Boosters”.  Students are to come with a parent to try on the uniform; parents are also asked to let the uniform worker know their child’s waist size.  If you need a specialty size please come early to get a uniform that will fit you. 

 

For distribution these evenings the entrance to the building will be on 1st Avenue North, a small side door that faces north.

 

 

IF YOU ARE ABLE TO HELP WORK AT EITHER OF THESE DISTRIBUTION EVENINGS, PLEASE CALL STEPHANIE NEWSHAM at 782-7219  or 621-2203.

 

Please be sure you have your pants hemmed by the first performance which will be December 11.  The remainder of the uniform includes your  black band t-shirt, black socks and black shoes.

March 25-27- Band portion of Yorkton Music Festival
May 2 - Grade 6 clinic trip to Regina
May 13/14 - Grade 8 Band at Mosse Jaw Band Festival
Tuesday June 4- Spring Concert 7pm at Ann Portnuff

Band booster meeting date and a big thank you!

Hi everyone! First off a big thank you to all the parents, students, and instructors that made our beginner band weekend a success!

Our band booster organization has come up with a date for the first meeting of the year.  We will meet on Tuesday October 9 at 7pm in the YRHS choir room.  All parents are strongly encouraged to attend.

A quick update!

Hey everybody!
The year is off to a fast start and we have hit the ground running!  The YRHS marching band (which includes some of our grade 8's) are well into preparations for their halftime show at the Sept. 29 Riders/BC game (If you want to see the show, we will be performing at the YRHS FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS GAME on Sept 28).  Grade 7 and 8 full band are underway, and Tuesday and Thursday Jazz start next week!  Thank you to all parents and students for bringing back your grey and orange forms, as this helps us update our roster.

One big event to remember is our Grade 5 clinic THIS FRIDAY from 7-9 and SATURDAY from 9-11:30 at YORKDALE.  Please use the main doors to enter.    Parents please remember to be at Yorkdale on Saturday at 10:30 for the band oooster parent meeting.  Also, our Grade 6 refresher is in one hour blocks between 1 and 2 and 2 and 3 pm on SATURDAY.  We are looking forward to seeing you there!

Hi everyone, and welcome to the GSSD Yorkton and Area Elementary Band Blog!  This spot is where Mr. Yemen and Mrs. Linsley will post the most up to date information on what is going on in the GSSD Yorkton and Area Grade 5-8 band classrooms.  That information will include important dates, assignment due dates (and copies of the assignments where applicable), meeting dates for our Band Booster organization, and other important tidbits to help you be successful in band this year.  From time to time we will also post videos and audio that may interest you, or be of use to you as you make your journey through band.  We hope you find this blog useful and enjoyable, and wish you success during this school year.
